This journal article describes how to use message boards, virtual classrooms, and user profiles pages to make learning communities more "habitable" for their members.

journal article, "Transparent Training and Technological Intuition", reference

This journal article details the pedagogy behind my previous instructional design and technology training as a Technology Coordinator for the Diocese of Monterey. It reminds us to keep a human centered view of learning with and collaborating through technology.

journal article, "The Emerging Knowledge Management Approach and Educational Organizations", reference

This article initiates a dialogue with the educational community on the use of knowledge management principles and collaborative technologies in reform initiatives. It takes document management tools, expert systems, portals and data mining/mapping technology and presents them to the practitioner in the context of educational reform.

This article looks at mining the Intraspect Software (now Vignette) group memory of an educational technology community of practice for indications of knowledge transfer. This study was a precursor to my dissertation research conducted in the Pepperdine University Educational Technology Program.

This book chapter spells out how a sense of community is a critical success factor in any distance learning program. It looks at the evolution of online communities and the use of knowledge management principles and collaborative technologies to scaffold them.
